Courses
Bachelor of Science in Dialysis Therapy Technology (B.Sc. Dialysis Technology)
Course Description
Bachelor of Science in Dialysis Therapy Technology is a four-year programme that trains students to provide safe and effective renal-replacement therapy for patients with kidney failure. The curriculum includes anatomy, physiology, renal pathophysiology, principles of dialysis, haemodialysis machines, peritoneal dialysis, water treatment systems, vascular access care, dialysis prescription support, infection control, nutrition support, emergency management, and patient counselling. Students learn to operate dialysis equipment, monitor patients during treatment, and maintain strict safety and hygiene standards.
Internships
Students complete supervised clinical training in dialysis units, nephrology departments, ICU dialysis sections, transplant units, and renal-care clinics. Internship activities include dialysis-machine preparation, water-treatment checks, vascular-access care, patient monitoring, dialyser handling, infection-control practices, emergency response, and documentation. Training may be provided in hospitals, dedicated dialysis centres, and nephrology departments.
Jobs / Scope in Government & Law Enforcement
Graduates can apply for dialysis technician, renal dialysis technologist, and nephrology technician posts in government hospitals, medical colleges, district hospitals, ESIC, Railways, defence medical services, and state health departments. They may support government dialysis programmes, free-dialysis schemes, prison healthcare units, and disaster-relief medical teams. Public nephrology services and district dialysis centres create steady employment
opportunities.
Jobs / Scope in Healthcare & Hospitals
Graduates work as dialysis technologists, haemodialysis technicians, peritoneal-dialysis technicians, renal-care coordinators, dialysis-unit supervisors, and home-dialysis specialists. Employers include hospitals, nephrology clinics, transplant centres, standalone dialysis chains, home-dialysis providers, and medical-device companies.
Career Prospects
Career progression includes senior dialysis technologist, dialysis-unit supervisor, quality officer, clinical trainer, and dialysis-centre manager. Higher study options include M.Sc. Dialysis Therapy Technology, renal-care management, and healthcare administration. Rising chronic kidney disease, diabetes-related renal failure, and expansion of dialysis networks create strong career demand.
Eligibility
- Pass in 10+2 / Intermediate with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English.
- Minimum aggregate marks as prescribed by the university and regulatory authority.
- Compassion, patience, and attention to hygiene are important for renal-care settings.
- Admission is generally merit-based or through the university’s admission process.
