Master of Radiotherapy Technology (M.RTT)

Master of Radiotherapy Technology (M.RTT) is a two-year postgraduate programme that develops advanced skills in radiation oncology technology, treatment planning, quality assurance, radiation safety, and cancer-care management.

Course Description

Master of Radiotherapy Technology (M.RTT) is a two-year postgraduate programme that develops advanced skills in radiation oncology technology, treatment planning, quality assurance, radiation safety, and cancer-care management. The curriculum includes advanced radiation physics, radiobiology, 3D conformal radiotherapy, IMRT, IGRT, stereotactic radiotherapy, brachytherapy, treatment-planning systems, dosimetry, patient safety, quality assurance, and research methodology. Students are trained to support complex cancer treatments with precision and compassion.

Internships
Students receive advanced training in linear accelerator units, brachytherapy suites, treatment-planning sections, simulation rooms, dosimetry laboratories, and quality-assurance departments. Training includes advanced treatment delivery, immobilisation, plan verification, machine quality checks, radiation-safety audits, patient positioning, and clinical research. Students may work in comprehensive cancer centres and tertiary-care oncology hospitals.

Jobs / Scope in Government & Law Enforcement
M.RTT graduates can apply for senior radiotherapy technologist, chief radiation technologist, radiation-safety officer, and clinical instructor roles in government cancer hospitals, regional cancer centres, medical colleges, and state health departments. They may support national cancer-control programmes, radiation-safety compliance, and oncology workforce training. Opportunities may also exist in nuclear medicine, regulatory bodies, and research institutions handling radiation technologies.

Jobs / Scope in Healthcare & Hospitals
Graduates work as senior radiotherapy technologists, radiation-oncology technologists, brachytherapy specialists, quality-assurance officers, treatment-planning coordinators, and clinical educators. Employers include cancer hospitals, radiation-oncology departments, tertiary-care hospitals, research institutes, and radiotherapy equipment companies.

Career Prospects
The programme opens pathways to leadership in radiation-oncology technology, quality assurance, clinical education, and cancer-care management. Graduates may pursue Ph.D. programmes, medical physics, radiation safety, or healthcare administration. The growth of advanced radiotherapy techniques and cancer-care infrastructure creates strong long-term demand.
