Courses
M.Sc. Biotechnology & Bioinformatics
Course Description
M.Sc. Biotechnology & Bioinformatics is a two-year postgraduate programme that integrates advanced biotechnology with computational biology, data analytics, and information technology. The curriculum includes molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, immunology, bioprocess technology, genetic engineering, genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, programming, database systems, machine-learning applications in biology, structural bioinformatics, drug discovery, biostatistics, and research methodology. Students learn to analyse large biological datasets and apply computational tools to healthcare, pharmaceutical, agricultural, and biotechnology research.
Internships
Students complete advanced training in bioinformatics laboratories, genomics facilities, pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology firms, healthcare-research organisations, agricultural-research institutes, and IT companies. Training includes sequence analysis, genome-data processing, molecular modelling, protein-structure analysis, drug-discovery workflows, programming projects, database development, biological-data visualisation, and dissertation research. Students may work on genomics, microbial informatics, drug-design, or precision-medicine projects.
Jobs / Scope in Government & Law Enforcement
Graduates can apply for bioinformatics analyst, scientific officer, research associate, data-analysis officer, and computational-biology roles in government research institutes, biotechnology parks, agricultural universities, forensic science laboratories, and public-health agencies. Bioinformatics expertise supports DNA sequence analysis, forensic genetics, pathogen-genome surveillance, biological-data management, and data-enabled investigation. Opportunities may also exist in biosecurity, disease surveillance, and national genomics programmes.
Jobs / Scope in Healthcare & Hospitals
Graduates work as bioinformatics analysts, genomics-data specialists, computational biologists, clinical-research associates, pharmaceutical-data analysts, and health-data analytics professionals. Employers include hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, cancer-research centres, pharmaceutical companies, genomics companies, biotechnology firms, and health-data analytics organisations.
Career Prospects
Career options include bioinformatics scientist, computational biologist, genomics-data analyst, drug-discovery analyst, biotechnology research associate, clinical-research professional, and health-data scientist. Higher study options include Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biotechnology, Genomics, and Data Science. Growth in genomics, precision medicine, AI-enabled drug discovery, biological data science, and personalised healthcare creates excellent career prospects.
