Master of Science in Perfusion Technology

Master of Science in Perfusion Technology is a two-year postgraduate programme that develops advanced expertise in extracorporeal circulation, cardiac surgery support, ECMO, organ preservation, and critical-care perfusion.

Course Description

Master of Science in Perfusion Technology is a two-year postgraduate programme that develops advanced expertise in extracorporeal circulation, cardiac surgery support, ECMO, organ preservation, and critical-care perfusion. The curriculum includes advanced perfusion physics, cardiopulmonary bypass, heart-lung machine technology, anticoagulation management, blood conservation, myocardial protection, ECMO, ventricular-assist devices, paediatric perfusion, quality assurance, and research methodology. Students are trained to manage complex cardiac-surgery and critical-care support procedures.

Internships
Students complete advanced clinical training in cardiac surgery theatres, perfusion departments, ECMO units, transplant centres, cardiac ICUs, and research laboratories. Training includes advanced bypass circuits, oxygenator selection, anticoagulation monitoring, blood-gas management, ECMO setup, organ-preservation support, equipment troubleshooting, and clinical research. Students may work in heart institutes and tertiary-care hospitals.

Jobs / Scope in Government & Law Enforcement
Graduates can apply for senior perfusionist, clinical perfusion specialist, ECMO coordinator, and clinical instructor roles in government cardiac hospitals, medical colleges, defence hospitals, and state health departments. They may support advanced cardiac surgery, transplant programmes, and critical-care transport services. Opportunities also exist in public-sector heart institutes and emergency life-support programmes.

Jobs / Scope in Healthcare & Hospitals
Graduates work as senior clinical perfusionists, ECMO specialists, cardiac-surgery perfusion coordinators, organ-preservation specialists, and clinical educators. Employers include cardiac hospitals, heart institutes, transplant centres, multi-speciality hospitals, and medical-device companies.

Career Prospects
The programme prepares graduates for leadership roles in perfusion services, ECMO programmes, cardiac surgery support, clinical education, and research. Graduates may pursue Ph.D. study, advanced perfusion certifications, or healthcare-management roles. Growth in cardiac surgery, transplantation, and ECMO-based critical care creates strong career prospects.
