Course Description

Master of Anaesthesia & Operation Theatre Technology (M.AOTT) is a two-year postgraduate programme that provides advanced training in anaesthesia technology, operation-theatre management, perioperative care, surgical assistance, and patient safety. Students study advanced anaesthesia equipment, regional and general anaesthesia support, critical-care monitoring, sterilisation systems, surgical instrumentation, operation-theatre design, infection control, biomedical waste management, and evidence-based practice. The programme prepares graduates for supervisory and specialised roles in surgical and critical-care environments.

Internships
Students undertake advanced clinical postings in major operation theatres, cardiac surgery units, neurosurgery units, transplant centres, trauma theatres, ICUs, post-anaesthesia care units, and CSSD. Training includes advanced anaesthesia-machine handling, monitoring systems, difficult-airway support, surgical workflow management, quality audits, infection-control surveillance, and perioperative documentation. Students may also complete research projects related to patient safety, sterilisation, or operation-theatre efficiency.

Jobs / Scope in Government & Law Enforcement
M.AOTT graduates can apply for senior anaesthesia technician, OT supervisor, CSSD officer, operation-theatre manager, and clinical instructor posts in government medical colleges, tertiary-care hospitals, defence hospitals, railway hospitals, and state health services. Their skills are valuable in disaster-response surgical units, trauma-care programmes, and emergency preparedness teams. They may also support regulatory compliance, biomedical-waste management, and hospital-safety audits.

Jobs / Scope in Healthcare & Hospitals
Graduates work as senior anaesthesia technologists, OT managers, surgical-team coordinators, infection-control officers, CSSD managers, clinical application specialists, and perioperative educators. Employers include multi-speciality hospitals, transplant centres, cardiac and neuro hospitals, day-care surgery centres, surgical-device companies, and healthcare-quality organisations.

Career Prospects
The degree opens pathways to leadership positions in operation-theatre administration, anaesthesia technology, sterilisation services, clinical education, and hospital quality. Graduates may pursue Ph.D. study, healthcare management, medical-device training, or specialised certifications in perioperative safety and infection control. Demand remains strong as surgical volumes, minimally invasive procedures, and patient-safety standards continue to grow.
