Course Description

Bachelor of Science in Cardiovascular Technology is a four-year programme that trains students to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of heart and blood-vessel disorders. The curriculum includes cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, ECG, echocardiography, stress testing, Holter monitoring, cardiac catheterisation, angiography, cardiac rehabilitation, electrophysiology basics, patient monitoring, emergency cardiac care, and biomedical instrumentation. Students learn to operate cardiovascular diagnostic equipment and support cardiologists during procedures.

Internships
Students complete clinical training in cardiology departments, catheterisation laboratories, echocardiography units, stress-testing labs, cardiac ICUs, and emergency departments. Internship learning includes ECG recording, echocardiography assistance, treadmill testing, Holter monitoring, cath-lab preparation, sterile technique, patient monitoring, and emergency cardiac support. Training may be provided in cardiac hospitals, tertiary-care hospitals, and diagnostic centres.

Jobs / Scope in Government & Law Enforcement
Graduates can apply for cardiac technologist, ECG technician, cath-lab technician, and cardiovascular technologist posts in government hospitals, medical colleges, ESIC, Railways, defence medical services, and state health departments. They may support public cardiac-screening programmes, emergency response teams, and occupational-health services. Opportunities also exist in police and defence fitness and cardiac-risk assessment programmes.

Jobs / Scope in Healthcare & Hospitals
Graduates work as cardiovascular technologists, cardiac cath-lab technologists, echocardiography technologists, ECG technicians, stress-test technologists, and cardiac-rehabilitation assistants. Employers include heart hospitals, multi-speciality hospitals, cath labs, diagnostic centres, emergency departments, and medical-device companies.

Career Prospects
Career growth includes senior cardiovascular technologist, cath-lab supervisor, echo specialist, clinical application specialist, and cardiac-care manager. Higher study options include M.Sc. Cardiovascular Technology, cardiac-care management, and medical-device technology. Rising cardiovascular disease and expansion of cath labs and cardiac ICUs create strong demand.
